DUEBENDORF-ZURICH, Switzerland – 23 July 2009 – Myriad Group AG (SIX: MYRN) today announced that it has completed the integration of Purple Labs SA, as anticipated. Since last March, Myriad has devoted much of its energy to this integration, to ensure that a customer-focused organisation is in place, with the appropriate supporting structure. Now that the integration project has been completed, Myriad will accelerate the development of innovative mobile software.
“Next-generation mobile phones combined with Internet services are an exciting space for our research and development investments,” commented Malcolm Dawe, Myriad’s Chief Product Officer. “Advanced mobile phones and other connected devices - with computer-like CPU and memory capabilities, touch screens, 3D graphics, GPS, and other technologies - have redefined what mobile phones can do. Myriad seeks to extend this evolution to the mass market.”
“Myriad has one of the most comprehensive portfolios of mobile software and services in the world,” added Simon Wilkinson, Myriad CEO. “As we do for Sagem Wireless, the Myriad team can deliver all of the software needed in mobile phones, from low-level telecommunication stacks, security protocols and runtimes, up to mobile applications and services, more visible to consumers. The depth of our technology and team uniquely enables Myriad to work with manufacturers and network operators to create innovative user experiences on mass market phones.”
Myriad’s product organisation has now been re-aligned to accelerate the innovation process, combining both product management and development under the leadership of Malcolm Dawe, Chief Product Officer. Dawe joined Myriad in March 2009 from Motorola, where he held senior management positions in Latin America, India and the USA. Over his 25 years in the mobile and consumer electronics industries, Dawe led the development and launch of multiple products and devices. Prior to Motorola he worked at Philips, where he was instrumental in the invention of the first-ever optimized digital protocol for paging, which was successful globally in hundreds of millions of pagers.
With the integration program now completed, Paul Aitken, Myriad’s Chief Operating Officer, is leaving the company. Myriad’s management and its Board of Directors express their thanks to Mr. Aitken for his contributions and achievements in driving Myriad’s integration project in a short timeframe.
